23.10.2023  |  Allianz Global Investors (AllianzGI) today announced the final close of the Allianz Global Diversified Infrastructure Equity Fund II (AGDIEF II), which was held at EUR 1bn. The fund is managed by Allianz Capital Partners (ACP) and focuses on key investment themes, such as the energy transition, the digital transformation, sustainable mobility and the circular economy. Approximately 60% of the AGDIEF II are already committed.

In 2020, the indirect infrastructure equity investment strategy, which was originally only available to Allianz investors, was opened to other institutional clients with the launch of the Allianz Global Diversified Infrastructure Equity Fund (AGDIEF). The AGDIEF held its final close at the end of 2020, at over EUR 1bn. The successor fund AGDIEF II was launched in Q4 2021 and held its first close at EUR 550mn in the spring of 2022. Together, AGDIEF and AGDIEF II attracted over EUR 2bn in client commitments over four years.

AGDIEF II is an Article 8 fund under the SFDR (Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation) and typically invests alongside Allianz in a global portfolio of core, core+ and selectively value-add infrastructure investments through primary fund commitments, secondary transactions and co-investments. The investment portfolio is expected to be highly diversified in terms of sectors, regions and number of underlying investments. The launch of a successor strategy is planned for 2024.

Emmanuel Deblanc, Global Head of Private Markets at Allianz Global Investors, said:
“Despite the current challenging market environment, we have been able to attract many clients, of which a large part had already invested in the predecessor, Allianz Global Diversified Infrastructure Equity Fund. We are very grateful for the trust of our new and existing clients for their continued support which underpins our strong positioning in private markets and the capability to deliver.”

Yves Meyer-Bülow, Head of Infrastructure Funds & Co-Investments at Allianz Capital Partners, added:
“The launch of AGDIEF coincided with the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic and AGDIEF II was raised at a time of accelerating interest rates and war in Europe. The resilient performance of our AGDIEF series to date reflects the combination of global diversified investment portfolios, underlying infrastructure assets that generally provide essential services and a focus on sustainability.”

AllianzGI is offering a broad range of investment solutions and manages around EUR 90bn in private market assets.
